About OpenTremor
Live earthquakes in the U.S. and worldwide, plus river levels and flows at 150+ U.S. stream gauges, straight from USGS data.
What you will find here
- A live count of earthquakes in the past 24 hours, the largest one, and the latest U.S. quakes.
- A filterable list of recent earthquakes, a page for every significant and M 6+ event, and a year of M 2.5+ quakes for every state.
- Current gage height and discharge at 150+ USGS stream gauges, with 7-day charts.
Where the data comes from
Earthquakes come from the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program real-time feeds and its FDSN event service (the ANSS Comprehensive Catalog). River readings come from USGS Water Data for the Nation. Pages are built from a saved copy of that data and then refreshed from the USGS in your browser when possible. Map links open OpenStreetMap.
Data: U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program (ANSS Comprehensive Catalog feeds) and USGS Water Data for the Nation (National Water Information System). USGS data are in the public domain; recent readings are provisional and subject to revision. These agencies do not endorse OpenTremor. Maps link to OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors).
Limits
OpenTremor is not an early-warning system. For tsunami warnings see tsunami.gov; for emergencies follow local authorities. Early earthquake solutions are automatic and may be revised. River data are provisional.
